The Prince's Book (Italian: Il Principe) A study in political jurisprudence prepared by Niccol Machiavelli in 1513 while he was in the village of Santandria in Barcosina, expelled after the return of the Medici family (1512) accusing him of participating in the conspiracy of Pier Paolo Boscoli against the Medici. Machiavelli dedicated this work to Lorenzo II de' Medici, son of Piero II de' Medici, in the hope of regaining the position of Secretary of the Republic, and it was published posthumously in 1532. It is undoubtedly his most famous work, and from it the name Machiavellianism and the Machiavellian adjective were introduced.
It is a study in political jurisprudence, and since its appearance in the sixteenth century this small book has become a subject of great controversy.
It has also become A necessary material for the study of politics in the Renaissance, and despite all that, the sharp debate and great controversy continued about the book. Although it includes a large number of the mature political principles and concepts espoused by Machiavelli, it does not include all of his political views. Since the book appeared in its first editions, the dispute revolves around its ethical implications. This controversy has developed beyond just addressing its scientific purposes and its relationship to the Medici family's political future. Moral scholars, especially in Britain and France, considered it a book suitable only for evil tyrants.
